MAITLAND, Fla. – Maitland police tracked down two suspects accused of breaking into an unmarked patrol car in inside a Maitland apartment complex Thursday morning.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office said the vehicle belongs to their agency. Deputies said no firearms were stolen from the car, which was parked outside Dwell Apartments off Maitland Summit Boulevard.
A witness said she saw one man being taken into custody in the RDV Sportsplex parking lot.
“There was a bunch of police officers. I saw feet first. They were carrying him out. He looked to be asleep or unconscious,” witness Alice Heider said.
Maitland officers, along with deputies from the Orange County and Seminole County Sheriff’s Offices, combed the area searching for the suspects.
Lt. Louis Grindle said Orange County deputies assisted the search with a K-9 officer and a helicopter, and Seminole County deputies helped establish a perimeter.
Channel 9 is reaching back out to Maitland police to find out the identities of the suspects, and to find out what — if anything — was stolen from the patrol car.
