In God of War (2018), Artifacts are a type of collectible that are tracked in all the regions you can explore. These small glowing items are often found off the beaten path, and reward you with experience for each one you find. You can also sell them once collected to earn a generous sum of Hacksilver.
Below you will find the location of Artifacts in each region they are found – though some may be blocked behind areas you will need to acquire upgrades to unlock new paths.
EditWildwoods Artifacts – Lost and Found
There are 4 Artifacts to find in the Wildwoods, which are part of the Lost and Found Set:
EditLost and Found Artifact 1
Just to the right of the path leading to the main gate by your home is a glowing silver treasure known as an Artifact. This Doll is part of the Lost and Found set, and if you find all four in the Wildwoods, you’ll earn additional XP.
EditLost and Found Artifact 2
Look along the path from your home to a set of stone steps to a bridge. To the left of the stone steps for another glowing icon that indicates another Artifact – the Boat is another part of the Lost and Found set.
EditLost and Found Artifact 3
When you reach the crossroads after fighting your first Draugr, take a right to go past a frozen river and climb down a chain to the ice below.
After clearing out the wolves down in the ravine, look to the left to find the glowing icon where another Artifact lies. It is a Horse, part of the Lost and Found collection in this area.
EditLost and Found Artifact 4
Once you enter the abandoned temple and head down the stairs to the main room with the closed gate, turn around to find an unlocked door at the opposite side leading to a plateau.
Look on the right side opposite the large chest to find a glowing icon indicating the last of the set of artifacts in this area. The Viking Toy is the last of the Lost and Found set, which will net you a good reward of experience.
There are 9 Artifacts to find in The River Pass – they are part of the Faces of Magic Collection.
Near the first Mystic Gateway along the path after your first fight with human Reavers, drop down the chain near the ruins exit.
You can take the path to a ridge overlooking the Marketplace, and a ledge going back up to the entrance – near the ledge is a dead soldier holding one of The Faces of Magic masks, part of artifact set.
At Brok’s Shop at the edge of the Marketplace Ruins, go right instead near the trees you threw your axe at to find a small lower platform you can hop down to. There’s a dead soldier here holding another of The Faces of Magic artifacts, a Man Mask.
On the other side of the spiked ceiling chamber past Brok’s Shop, climb up to find a dead soldier that holds another of The Faces of Magic, and grab this new Mask near the exit to the cave.
After the spiked chamber, there’s a large plateau before the area with the first sand bowl. Head along the edge of the plateau to the far side where you’ll find a dead soldier, and he holds another of The Faces of Magic, and grab this next mask.
After opening the large riddle door using the sand bowl, enter the tunnel until the path swerves right, but you can go left to climb up to a small pool of water where another of the Faces of Magic artifacts lies,
Grab the mask to add it your collection.
After defeating the Troll in the River Pass, head through the tunnel to a ruined village and drop down. Next to the second house with Hacksilver inside is a tiny husk of a hut you can break.
Behind it you’ll find the body of a soldier holding another of The Faces of Magic, and you can add another mask to your collection.
On your fist visit to the Witch’s House, you’ll leave by way of a large cave. Take the bridge down from her door and go left to a lower path with a pallet of large stones you can move. Now push the pallet into the water to form a floating platform.
You can cross the platform to a dead soldier who carries one of The Faces of Magic artifacts, and add it to your collection.
Upon returning to the Witch’s Cave after getting Light and Shock Arrows, break the red wall of sap to find a large well you can climb up to the Witch’s House. As you head down the path to the house, look to the right to find the body of a dead soldier holding one of the Faces of Magic Artifacts, the Hole Mask.
A final artifact can be found climbing the chain next to the Rune Reads by the turtle once you are able to revisit the forest floor around the Witch’s House.
It leads to a short path with an inactive Nornir Chest, and if you look to the side you can spot one more dead body holding the last of the Faces of Magic Artifact set.
EditShores of Nine Artifacts – Abandon Ship
There are 9 Artifacts located in the greater Lake of Nine area – including 4 on the Shores of Nine and 5 more on the various beaches around the lake.
- Total Sell Value – 15,300
EditAbandon Ship Artifact 1
You’ll likely find the first Artifact when docking at Tyr’s Temple on the Shores of Nine, look around the steps up from the East side of the bridge when coming up from the dock to find a body that holds one of the ship’s head artifacts.
EditAbandon Ship Artifact 2
You can find this Artifact in the Shores of Nine – specifically on top of the Niflheim Realm Tower, the tower locatd on the Southwest side of the Lake of Nine.
Take the lift up from the dock, and you’ll find one of the ship’s heads artifacts next to a dead body.
EditAbandon Ship Artifact 3
This Artifact is also located on the Shores of Nine – and this one can be found on top of the Alfheim Tower in the Northeast side of the Lake of Nine.
Take the lift up from the docks to the top and look for a dead body by the giant door that holds the shiphead artifact.
EditAbandon Ship Artifact 4
Unlike the previous Artifacts, this one isn’t technically located on the Shores of Nine, but on the beach of Lookout Tower.
Head to the dock either when the waters have receded once, or climb up once the waters have gone down twice. You can find a Nornir Chest here against the cliff rocks, and to the right is a dead body holding one of the ship’s heads artifacts.
EditAbandon Ship Artifact 5
This Artifact can be found in the Forgotten Caverns. It can be found on one of the higher beaches when the water has receded, and you may have to climb up to it once the water has gone down again.
If you’ve beaten the game, you’ll find it very easily – as it’s right below that giant addition to the landscape.
EditAbandon Ship Artifact 6
This artifact is technically located at the Stone Falls region, in the Eastern part of the Shores of Nine. You can find this artifact from the boat dock once the waters have fallen once, or you need to climb back up to the top level when the waters go down twice.
Head to the large arena area where a Revenant and Tatzelwurms appear, and look for a small ledge to the right where a Coffin is sitting next to several bodies – one of which holds the artifact.
EditAbandon Ship Artifact 7
You can find this Artifact at the Cliffs of the Raven region, which is located in the Southeast part of the Shores of Nine. It is available either from the dock when the waters have fallen once, or you must make the trek up from the lower dock when the waters go down twice.
Head to the area near the brazier with the giant’s corpse, and look for a ledge high up with a raised chain – and break open a wooden wall to the right to boost Atreus up.
When Atreus lowers the chain, climb up to find a Cipher Chest, and just beyond it is a body holding one of the artifacts.
EditAbandon Ship Artifact 8
This artifact is located at the Isle of Death, a small island in the Southwest area of the Shores of Nine. You can reach it either from the dock when the waters first lower, or you can climb up from the lower dock when the lake recedes a second time.
From the main highest part of the island, look on the East end of the shore for a pile of gold-tinted rubble, and spot the red urn behind it.
Throw your axe at the red urn to blow apart the rubble, and you can find a corpse on the other side holding the artifact.
EditAbandon Ship Artifact 9
This Artifact, also located on the Shores of Nine, can be found at Helheim Tower. The bridge will be temporarily docked to the tower once you speak to the World Serpent a second time – so head to the tower and look to the right of the large door to find a body holding another of the ship’s head artifacts.
There are 6 Artifacts located in the realm of Alfheim, and they are part of the Spoils of War Collection.
Once you have restored power to the main Bridge to the Ringed Temple in the area below it, head to the upper bridge on the side opposite the door out to reach a dead end with several Light Elf bodies.
One of whom holds one of the Spoils of War Elven Artifacts.
After restoring the Light of Alfheim, return to the lake’s edge past the bridge leading to the temple and take the lift back down into the Ringed Temple Trench.
Look around the cells in the lift room to spy one with the body of a dead Light Elf. It might be dark, but you can use the Bifrost as a light source to explore the cell and grab one of the Spoils of War Artifacts from the dead body.
Past the lift room, head out into the main trench room and go left across a bridge of light to a room with cells sealed by a hanging light crystal and knock it down.
Check the interior of the cells here to find the body of a Light Elf, and loot the corpse to find another of the Spoils of War Artifacts.
In the main part of the Ringed Temple Trench along the path back to the sand bowl lift, remember that wheel mechanism you used to lower the platforms to a tunnel leading into a prison area. Return down there to find the doors open and the Draugr gone.
Search the cells for the body of a Light Elf holding another of the Spoils of War Artifacts, and add it to your collection.
Back out on the lake in front of the Ringed Temple, take the boat up to the Northwest shore to find the Light Elf Shore. Head right along the beach to reach a stone path leading to a high ledge with a Legendary Chest above.
Near the ledge, look for the body of a dead Light Elf to find another of the Spoils of War Artifacts and add it to your collection.
Also on the lake in front of the Ringed Temple, take the boat to the Southeast to find a shore of the Light Elf Sanctuary. Move along the shore and open a gate you can sprint through and take a right to destroy roots blocking another gate leading to a balcony over the lake.
From the balcony over the water, head right to find the path blocked by two roots you can cleave apart. Cross the root bridge and look down to the left to spot the roots blocking your path and a door below. Hit all of them and a nearby Artifact on the ground will be revealed – the last of the Spoils of War Artifacts.
There are 6 Artifacts to find in Veithurgard, and they are part of the Horns of Veithurgard collection.
- Total Sell Value – 15,000
This artifact can be found as soon as you dock your boat in Veithurgard proper (not to be confused with the entry channel). Once you’ve cleared out the Draugr in the area, look for the long dock you need to leap across where a ranged Draugr was, and the artifact can be found at the end of the dock.
You can find this artifact close to the previous one by the shoreline leading towards the dragon. From the boat dock, hang right to find a gate you can open by pulling a chain around the right side. Climb up the path past the gate and pass a Realm Tear to drop down to a lower platform.
Once you drop down, look along the cliffs on the right to break open a wooden wall to find the artifact behind it.
This artifact is located near the chained Dragon, Ottr. From the imprisoned dragon, head left and stay against the back wall until you reach a path to a small waterfall. Near the base of this waterfall lies a soldier holding the artifact.
You can find this artifact on the road to the castle in Veithurgard. Take a left from the imprisoned dragon to find a bridge to the castle. You’ll have to take the long way around to the left of the bridge to blow open a path – once you do, you’ll find a body on the broken bridge that holds an artifact.
This is one of two artifacts located inside the castle in Veithurgard. Solve the Rune puzzle outside to gain entry (the two missing runes are among the debris).
Inside, you’ll find a Jotnar Shrine – and past that on the left is a hallway leading to a dead soldier holding an artifact.
The last of the two artifacts inside Veithurgard Castle can be found further inside. Head along the main path until you get to a ledge overlooking a flooded room. Look for a nearby switch to drain the water, then head down to the lower level to find a soldier holding the last artifact.
There are 6 Artifacts to find in The Mountain, and they are part of the Bottoms Up Collection.
- Total Sell Value – 30,000
After solving the riddle at the entrance and opening up a path to the right, head into the large chamber and make your way up a ledge and along the main path.
Head along the right path to find a crystal torch and illuminate it to notice a wooden door to the right.
Break through it into a small chamber with a dead body hiding behind a table that holds one of the Bottoms Up Artifacts, a two-headed cup.
In the smaller chamber from the main lift room where you find the mine cart to push into the main chamber, stop a bit after pushing the minecart and look at the spot it was originally to find a spiked door you can push in.
On the other side lies a dead body holding another of the Bottoms Up Artifacts, a Handled Goblet.
After defeating the Dragon and moving back into the mountain interior you’ll come a large platform with a pulley covered in Shatter Crystal.
Use a Shock Arrow to clear away the wall of sap, and there will still be some shatter crystal left – more importantly, a path through the opened area leads to a dead man holding one of the Bottoms Up Artifacts – a large handled mug.
As you reach the main wall below the summit that’s covered in Hel Bramble, be sure to look left real quickly to find a dead body behind a large rock.
He carries one of the Bottoms Up Artifacts: A large cup and holder.
On your second trip back to The Mountain, return to the main lift room where you used a mine cart to travel up.
A coffin and Artifact are found in this main lift room – blocked by World Tree Sap under a platform near the minecart tracks leading to the next room. Shatter the embedded crystal to retrieve the next piece of the Bottoms Up Artifact set: the Tall Goblet, and open the coffin to get Solid Svartalfheim Steel.
Also found on your return trip to The Mountain, Take the new lift up and keep moving forward until you pass an area with a Stone Ancient and keep moving through the far door into a library area.
The last of the Bottoms Up Artifacts is lying next to a body that holds a Lore Scroll. Collect this Artifact: the simple cup, to complete your set.
There are 5 Artifacts to find in the Realm of Helheim, and they are part of the Family Heirloom Artifact Set.
- Total Sell Value – 50,000
You can find this artifact right after leaving Tyr’s Temple and entering the icy bridge. Look to the right side of the bridge just after the door you exited. In the snow along the side you can find one of the Family Heirloom Artifacts – a small brooch.
On the side path you take after finding the main door sealed, you’ll have to head up and down a large pillar to the floor below. At the bottom, head to the pillar on the left where the Hel-Reaver Archers appeared, and look up the back of the pillar for some Hel Bramble that has trapped an artifact up at the top. Break it to get another of the Family Heirloom Artifacts brooches.
At the bottom floor below the main path to the Bridge of the Damned, you’ll need to climb up from a platform that falls down and up to a small icy tunnel under the main path.
Look up above as you go through the tunnel to spot a glimmering object stuck in some Hel Bramble under the tiny bridge. Break it to reveal one of the Family Heirloom Artifacts: a two-headed beast brooch.
After you are able to return to Helheim with Atreus, head along the main path towards the Bridge of the Damned and look for the second high platform leading to a tiny bridge going left to a wall of Read Sap.
Have Atreus blow up the wall and look on the right side of the path after the wall to find the Family Heirloom Artifact on the ground.
This Artifact is also found shortly after the previous Artifact. The path behind the red sap wall leads to one of the Hidden Chambers of Odin. Take the lift down, and then check the upper level before the arena to find the last of the Family Heirloom Artifacts stashed here.
