PS4 and Xbox on April 30?
An Amazon listing for ‘Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered’ has appeared, with a release date of April 30.
As with all listings of this kind, this may be a placeholder in case a game is announced. The listed release date would indicate an unusually small time between announcement and release – for comparison, the original Modern Warfare Remastered saw a six-month gap after being officially revealed.
If this listing proves to be true, it would seem to indicate that this will be a standalone release, rather than a special edition bonus with a new Call of Duty instalment, as was the case with the remaster of the first game.
IGN has contacted Activision for comment.
It’s not the first time we’ve been reminded of Modern Warfare 2 recently – its famously divisive No Russian sequence was part of a reel of violent video games presented at a White House meeting last week.
We were impressed with the first Modern Warfare remaster, saying it’s “not outdated, it’s classic, and the considerable effort that has gone into improving the models, textures, and effects have enhanced it enough that playing through the campaign again was rewarding.”
