FX cites “creative differences” for the split.
Marvel Television, FX, and Donald Glover have decided to “part ways” on the previously announced Deadpool animated series.
FX cited “creative differences” for the split and reaffirmed the network its still working with Marvel TV on Legion, Variety reports.
The animated series received a 10-episode first season order from FXX in May of last year. Donald and Stephen Glover (Atlanta) were set to serve as showrunners and writers on the series, which was scheduled to premiere sometime this year.
It’s believed that Donald Glover’s full schedule could have been a contributing factor, with the actor starring as Lando Calrissian in Solo: A Star Wars Story and voicing Simba in Disney’s new Lion King movie, in addition to his work on Atlanta.
With FX and Glover no longer involved in the Deadpool animated series, it’s uncertain right now whether or not Marvel plans to move forward on the project with new writers.
Regardless, Deadpool fans still have much to look forward to this year, with Deadpool 2 opening in theaters this May. Check out our detailed breakdown of the film’s new trailer below:
