Jonah Hill and Emma Stone star in mysterious new series.
Maniac is Netflix’s strange new series from the minds of writer Patrick Somerville (24: Live Another Day) and director Cary Fukunaga (True Detective).
Former Superbad co-stars Emma Stone and Jonah Hill reunite, with veteran actors Sally Feild and Justin Theroux rounding out the cast. For a better look at Maniac, scroll through the slideshow below:
Little is known about the series, except that Stone and Hill are “two strangers who find themselves caught up in a mind-bending pharmaceutical trial gone awry,” according to Netflix’s synopsis.
One thing is for sure, the team behind this trippy-looking series is top-notch. Somerville might not have the name recognition that Fukunaga does, but he’s written some quality television, working on shows like HBO’s The Leftovers and FX’s The Bridge. Maniac will be Fukunaga’s first directing gig since his critically acclaimed work on Netflix’s Beasts of No Nation, starring Idris Elba.
Netflix is not lacking in new content, and with the recent new that the company is one of the eight largest media conglomerates in the world with a market cap of $146 billion, the streaming provider is showing no signs of slowing down.
David Griffin still watches DuckTales in his pajamas with cereal bowl in hand. He’s also the TV Editor for IGN. Say hi on Twitter.
