The Pokemon HOME app is a cloud-based Pokemon storage service that will essentially replace Pokemon Bank. Once a Pokemon is in Pokemon HOME, it should be able to be transferred to Pokemon Sword and Shield as long as it belongs to the Pokemon Sword and Shield Pokedex.

Games Compatible With Pokemon HOME[edit]

  • Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield
  • Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee
  • Pokemon GO
  • Pokemon Bank
  • By extension through Pokemon Bank, all 3DS games will be compatible with Pokemon HOME as well.

How Does Pokemon HOME Work?[edit]

If a Pokemon can be transferred to Pokemon Bank, it can be transferred to HOME. So, theoretically, a Pokemon from as far back as Pokemon Diamond and Pearl could be transferred up to Pokemon HOME.

Check out How to Transfer Old Pokemon to Sword and Shield to see how this works.

However, just because a Pokemon can be transferred to Pokemon HOME, doesn’t mean it can be transferred to Pokemon Sword and Shield. There may be special cases, but these are, so far, unknown.

Take a look at the Pokemon Sword and Shield Pokedex to see which Pokemon will be able to be transferred to Sword and Shield from HOME.

Warning: Only Pokemon Sword and Shield will be able to transfer Pokemon back and forth to Pokemon HOME. For all other games and apps, the trade to Pokemon HOME is one way and permanent.
