The clues in the clockface.
Update #2: Bethesda has only continued to tease what all but certainly looks like the return of Rage.
New photos continue to pop up on the Bethesda Twitter account, featuring the bright pink paint used in previous teaser images. Most notably, a pair of photos feature CG characters inserted into real-world situations, both of whom look like they’re pulled straight from the world of the original Rage.
Check out all of the teaser images so far in the gallery below.
Of course, Bethesda has still not officially announced Rage 2, or any other new entry in the Rage universe, so these images could be related to another project. However, the frequency of the images likely means some sort of announcement is soon to come.
Update: To add more (rocket) fuel to the fire, Bethesda has posted another photo with pink highlights, seeming to shore up the speculation that a reveal of some kind is on the way next week.
Another image posted to the Bethesda Twitter feed includes a rocket shooting into the sky, surrounded by pink-tinted clouds.
The rocket itself is labeled with “5-14,” a seeming confirmation of speculation from the previous Big Ben image that Bethesda is teasing a May 14 reveal. While the images don’t necessarily scream “Rage 2,” they do follow in the footsteps of the Rage Twitter account’s revival, that account’s use of the pink color, and a listing for Rage 2 by Walmart.
Stay tuned to IGN for more on any potential Bethesda reveals.
Original story follows:
A mysterious new image from Bethesda may not be all that puzzling, as fans have pieced together what they believe is a tease for official Rage 2 information that is coming soon.
The official Bethesda Twitter account has posted a photo of Big Ben in London, England, with pink paint smeared across the clockface.
Though fairly innocuous at first glance, fans have pointed out in replies that the pink paint is essentially the same shade as the pink used to draw the Rage’s “A” anarchy logo in a joking tweet from the official Rage account yesterday. That tweet poked fun at a Walmart listing, which included Rage 2 among a host of other unannounced titles not yet confirmed.
The official Rage Twitter account otherwise has been wiped clean, but its first tweet, and a response from both the Bethesda account and Bethesda Marketing SVP Pete Hines has led many to speculate Rage 2 may in fact be real.
Today’s photo has not only fueled that speculation, but led some to believe they know when information is coming. One reply to the Big Ben photo noted the hands of the clock are at five-hour and fourteen-minute marks, suggesting a possible May 14 announcement of some kind.
Bethesda has not officially confirmed any sort of announcement in the coming weeks, nor one regarding the Rage franchise. But the breadcrumb trail of Twitter clues indicate something is happening with the Rage franchise, which has been dormant since the original game’s release in 2011.
Stay tuned to IGN for more as these possible Rage sequel teases develop.
